K-Five Construction earns $5.5 million tollway contract

DOWNERS GROVE - A Westmont contractor was awarded a $5.5 million paving project by the Illinois Tollway board this week as part of the tollway's $1.49 billion capital spending commitment for 2022.

K-Five Construction Co., Westmont, was awarded a contract for systemwide pavement repairs. In addition, a $2.2 million contract to Enlight Contracting, Chicago, was approved for water main construction on the Tri-State Tollway at the Mile Long Bridge.

The tollway's 2022 Capital Program calls for investing $1.49 billion with $296.8 million budgeted for systemwide roadway and bridge repairs to keep the existing system in good repair, along with funding for key projects including:

• $439.9 million to continue planning and construction for the new I-490 Tollway and new interchanges connecting to the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90), Tri-State Tollway (I-294), the Illinois Route 390 Tollway, as well as providing direct access in and out of O'Hare International Airport as part of the Elgin-O'Hare Western Access Project.

• $690.1 million to continue design and reconstruction work for the Central Tri-State Tollway Project.

• $46.2 million to complete construction of the I-294/I-57 Interchange.
