Big Red Toy Box toy drive giving away toys to local children

The Big Red Toy Box community toy drive was founded by Compassionate Dental Care in Lake in the Hills and Dr. Tim Stirneman starting back in 2014.

It started with the mission of helping local under-resourced children during the holidays, all efforts benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Dundee Township.

In 2018, he partnered with the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Chamber of Commerce, which helped bring a focused synergy with local businesses. The chamber was instrumental in helping Dr. Stirneman grow this toy drive into what it is today. They are grateful to live in a community where there are so many generous business owners that want to do good.

This year, there were 24 local businesses in Algonquin, Lake in the Hills, Huntley, and Crystal Lake collecting toys.

They also made it easy to choose a toy and make a purchase by using a QR Code that took you to a link that had five different toys to choose from, that were all fun and educational at the same time. You didn't have to shop if you didn't have time. Check out the link at bgcdt.org/toy/.

This year, because of COVID-19, the delivery system will be a little different. They will be delivering the toys outside of the selected schools. They set up a table and each child receives a Big Red Toy Box Bag with a toy inside. They have delivered to four schools last week and have three more this week.
