Hair salon, cleaning company and gift basket maker coming to Itasca

A hair salon, cleaning company and gift basket maker are poised to open in Itasca.

The village board this week approved the three new businesses, which will create 87 jobs.

Hair Goddess Salon and Boutique will open in a multiunit building at 213 North Catalpa Ave. The business will sell earrings, purses and various hair accessories.

Owner Connie Blankenship, a lifelong Itasca resident, is the sole employee.

"I've been in the industry for a long time, and I know exactly what I'm doing," Blankenship said.

"I grew up in the business and have a great reputation," she said. "You can't be lazy. You have to stay organized and committed."

Marketplace Brands, which manufactures and distributes gift baskets, will relocate from Elk Grove Village to Itasca. The business will occupy roughly 84,000 square feet at 1055 West Devon Ave. It will have a total of 80 employees.

JEET Inc. is a cleaning company that will use roughly 1,000 square feet of office space at 320 W. Irving Park Road, Suite C. Founded in 1994 by Joan Tucket, JEET offers hand washing, power washing and sanitizing services for commercial and residential properties around the Chicago area, according to its website.
