DeVry University boasts 44 U.S. Olympians

NAPERVILLE - DeVry University Friday announced a roster of 44 DeVry undergraduates, graduates and master's degree students who will compete at the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

DeVry University is an official education provider of Team USA. Since 2011, more than 650 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes and hopefuls have enrolled at DeVry University to pursue a certificate, associate, bachelor's or master's degree program, the university said. To date, 215 are now graduates and are prepared to start their professional careers when they transition from their athletic pursuits.

Of this year's 44 DeVry Olympians, two hail from Illinois: Nefeli Papadakis of Gurnee, judo, studying for a Business Administration masters; and Tori Franklin of Chicago, a Downers Grove South High School graduate, track and field, also studying for a Business Administration masters.

"We are incredibly proud of our student and alumni athletes who have persevered during a global pandemic to remain focused and steadfast in their training, earning this auspicious honor to compete at the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020. We will be cheering on Team DeVry every step of the way," said Tom Monahan, president and CEO at DeVry University.
