Culligan to be purchased by private investment group

ROSEMONT - Culligan International, the consumer-focused sustainable water solutions and services company, Tuesday said it is being acquired by BDT Capital Partners LLC.

Culligan is being aquired from its current private equity investors, Advent International and Centerbridge Partners LP. Advent will reinvest in Culligan, taking a minority stake. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Founded outside of Chicago in 1936 by Emmett Culligan, Rosemont-based Culligan has a rich legacy of providing drinking water to homeowners and customers in partnership with Culligan water dealers in North America, as well as through direct service and dealers internationally.

"We're grateful for the support of Advent and Centerbridge, and are excited to work with our new partners at BDT as we continue to execute on our growth plan and expand our leadership position in the consumer water market," said Scott Clawson, CEO of Culligan International.

Culligan competes within a fast-growing, $35 billion global consumer water services market, the company said.
