FGM Architects completes leadership transition

OAK BROOK - The FGM Architects' board of directors announced the promotions of John Dzarnowski to chief executive officer and Tim Kwiatkowski to president.

Taken together, these appointments complete a fourth generation leadership transition. Founded in 1945, FGMA's founding partners were Cliff Fields, Jack Goldman and George Magee. Upon their retirement in the 1970s, Ed Rosenberger led the firm until 1999 when John Ochoa was named president and, in 2001, chief executive officer.

Ochoa continues in his role as chairman of FGMA. Both Dzarnowski and Kwiatkowski continue as FGMA board members.

Dzarnowski joined FGMA in 2007 as leader of the firm's Municipal and Recreational practice. Appointed president in 2018, he will lead implementation of the firm's new five-year strategic plan. Prior to joining FGMA, Dzarnowski was a principal at PHN Architects. He served as a director of AIA Northeast Illinois from 2001-2009 and board president in 2008. Dzarnowski received his architecture degree from the University of Detroit.

Kwiatkowski joined FGMA in 1999. He was named executive vice president and managing director of FGMA's St. Louis region in 2018. In that capacity, he has led the growth of the firm's practice throughout Missouri while maintaining its strength in Central/Southern Illinois. As FGMA president, Kwiatkowski will oversee operations in the firm's six offices located in Illinois, Missouri, Texas and Wisconsin.

Kwiatkowski is a board member of the Leadership Council of Southwestern Illinois as well as a member of the Society of American Military Engineers. He received his architectural studies degree from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.
