US Foods lease renewal marks largest 2019 suburban office deal

US Foods signed a lease renewal on its headquarters in Rosemont Tuesday in what is being called the largest suburban office space deal in 2019.

Cushman & Wakefield, which represented property landlord Adventus Realty, said the deal extends US Food's lease on 275,000 square feet of space at 9399 West Higgins Road, with options to expand. The deal is the largest suburban space lease signed since 2017, according to Cushman & Wakefield officials.

Financial terms of the lease were not announced.

US Foods, a national food service distributor for the hospitality industry, has had its headquarters in Rosemont's Riverway office campus since 2005,

"We're excited that US Foods has reaffirmed its commitment to the Chicago suburbs," said Adventus President and CEO Rod Johnston. "They have been a cornerstone tenant at Riverway."

Riverway's 1.1 million square foot campus contains four class-A, 11-story office buildings 9377 W. Higgins, 9399 W. Higgins, and 6133 N. River Road. The campus also includes a Marriott hotel, Carlucci's Restaurant, 5/3 Bank branch, food service, fitness center, hair salon, 200-seat auditorium and garage parking.

Adventus Realty is in the process of making improvements to the buildings, including upgrades of the lobby areas, elevators, and restrooms, as well as enhancements to security, parking and public transportation access. The project is being overseen by SCB Architects.

Dan Svachula, Michael Simpson and Allyson Birchmeier of Cushman & Wakefield represented the Adventus Realty as leasing agents. US Foods was represented by James Otto, Abigail Zaleski and Chris Reynolds of CBRE.
