Alpha Tekniko donates mattresses to local shelter

LAKE ZURICH - Alpha Tekniko, a developer and manufacturer of specialized medical support surfaces, recently donated mattresses and box springs to the House of Peace Shelter in Waukegan.

The House of Peace, founded in 2011, serves women and children displaced from their homes due to unstable domestic situations, battery and other forms of abuse. Run almost entirely by volunteers, the shelter has assisted hundreds of families since its opening.

Besides products specifically engineered for hospitals and acute care applications, Alpha Tekniko also produces mattresses and box springs for other health care facilities. The donation to the House of Peace included multiple sets of mattresses and foundations, plus assorted bed frames and mattress protectors.

Aida Segura, the House of Peace Center director. said donations such as the one from Alpha Tekniko help them to both furnish the shelter and to provide starter household goods when residents are able to move into their own independent homes.
