Aurora community leaders to be honored

AURORA -- Aurora community leaders Annette Johnson and Dick Schindel will receive the Marie Wilkinson Spirit Award on Sunday as part of the Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry's annual Fill the Bowls fundraiser.

The fundraiser will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Gaslite Manor Banquets in Aurora. The Spirit Award presentation is at 1 p.m.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                       
 

Johnson is president of East Aurora School District 131 board of education. Schindel is president of Aurora Area Retired Teachers Association, an entrepreneur and retired East Aurora teacher, football coach and athletic director.

The Sunday brunch, an all-you-can-eat event, will showcase chefs from 20 Aurora restaurants and the East Aurora High School culinary team. Student music groups from Metea Valley and Waubonsie Valley high schools will perform.
