Naperville designer wins top award

NAPERVILLE - Joan Kaufman, president of Interior Planning & Design, Inc., received first place in the 2019 ASID Design Excellence Award for Innovative Treatments of Walls, Countertops and/or Ceiling Design.

The American Society of Interior Designers - Illinois Chapter is a professional association representing the interests of over 1,100 interior designers, students and design industry partner members in Illinois. Kaufman's entry was among a variety in the category, and was selected by judges across the country, according to Chapter President Annemarie Delmonico.

"I believe good interior design can have a significant and positive impact on people's living spaces. It is a joy for me to improve a client's sense of well-being through my design knowledge and expertise," Kaufman said.

More than 200 guests attended the event held at Marshall's Landing in the Merchandise Mart, Chicago.
