Middleby acquires Ss Brewtech

ELGIN - The Middleby Corp. said it has acquired Ss Brewtech, a maker of professional craft brewing and beverage equipment, based in Santa Ana, Calif.

Terms of the acquisition were not announced.

Founded in 2013, Ss Brewtech has $20 million in annual revenues and was the first to introduce professional-grade brewing equipment for the small scale craft brewing industry.

The company will operate as an autonomous business unit within Middleby.

"Ss Brewtech provides a best-in-class craft brewing platform, enhancing our current beverage portfolio. Craft brewing, including on-site brewing in bars and restaurants, is growing in popularity and Ss Brewtech is well-positioned to benefit from this trend," said Middleby CEO Tim FitzGerald. "The company has developed exclusive technology and a standardized platform allowing operators to install and operate equipment with minimal setup and training, while delivering superior beverage control and quality."

FitzGerald added the company is a recognized and respected brand in the industry.

"We believe there are significant opportunities to leverage existing Middleby customer relationships and global distribution channels for future growth opportunities," he added.
