Marklund Wasmond Center names Orwig administrator

Michelle Orwig, RN, COON, LNHA, has been named the new Administrator at Marklund Wasmond Center in Elgin.

She will succeeds Shelley Lewis, who recently retired after 40 years.

Orwig joined Marklund nearly two years ago as the director of nursing at the Wasmond Center. She previously worked as a director of nursing at other facilities for several years, and in a hospital setting for about eight years in the NICU/Labor & Delivery/Flight.

She is a member of APIC: Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology; IHCA: Illinois Healthcare Association; ANA: American Nurses Association; AADNS: American Association of Directors of Nursing Services; NAB: National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards.

A nonprofit organization, the Marklund Wasmond Center, 1435 Summit St., is a residential, therapeutic and educational facility serving children and adults with profound developmental disabilities.
