Zebra, Brunswick among suburban companies on Forbes "Best Employers" list
Zebra Technologies in Lincolnshire and Brunswick Corp. in Mettawa were among a number of suburban-based companies recognized by Forbes Magazine in its annual list of "America's Best Employers."
The business magazine compiled its annual "Forbes 500" list from a survey of more than 50,000 U.S. employees at companies with at least 1,000 people. Participation in the survey was voluntary, and respondents were recruited from thousands of sources.
Zebra made the list of mid-sized companies for its ongoing commitment to employee engagement, inclusion and diversity, the company said in a release. It is the fourth straight year the company made the list.
Brunswick, a manufacturer of marine engines, boats and fitness equipment, is ranked No. 219 for employers with 5,000 workers or more. It's Brunswick's second straight year on the list.
Suburban-based companies that made Forbes' list of large companies include AbbVie in Libertyville Township, Grainger in Mettawa, Aldi in Batavia and Caterpillar in Deerfield. Those that made the mid-sized list include Hub Group in Oak Brook, AAR in Wood Dale, Empire Today in Northlake, Abt Electronics in Glenview, and Ingredion in Westchester.
Chicago-based companies on Forbes' list include Archer Daniels Midland, Boeing, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, ComEd, Kraft-Heinz, Hyatt Hotels and the University of Chicago, Midsized companies include Miller-Coors, MB Financial, CME Group, Coyote Logistics, CareerBuilder and the Ann & Robert Lurie Childrens Hospital.
