The Altar Bridal opens in Barrington

The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce and the village of Barrington gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony earlier this month to celebrate the grand opening of The Altar Bridal, 236 W. Northwest Highway, in Barrington.

The shop is Altar Bridal's third in the nation, with the two others located in Denver.

"Our goal is to provide brides with extraordinary designer dresses at affordable prices," owner Maureen Mika said in an announcement of the store's opening.

The Altar Bridal sells gowns off the rack at costs 30 to 50 percent off original retail. Their inventory includes veils, sashes, headpieces and jewelry, as well as prom and flower girl dresses.

"The Altar Bridal is the TJ Maxx of the bridal industry," Mika said.
