Gurnee salon gives suburban veterans a new look

Earlier this week, veterans in Lake County and across the country were honored for their past sacrifices and achievements in service to their country.

On Wednesday, six of them were honored in a more forward-looking manner - with free makeovers.

The fresh new looks, including haircuts and beard trims, were courtesy of Janelle Nagy and her staff at Octagon Salon Spa in Gurnee.

"It's a blessing," said Vietnam veteran Larry Crumb of Grayslake. "They're reaching out to these heroes that served this country and kept this country strong.

"That means a lot," he added.
