The RoomPlace opening Friday at Gurnee Mills

The RoomPlace is opening Friday, Nov. 9, at Gurnee Mills Mall at 6148 W. Grand Ave., creating 50 new jobs.

This is the 27th location for The RoomPlace, based in Lombard, and part of a strategic initiative to expand the furniture retailers' footprint. The company, which has more than 750 employees, said the Gurnee store will be its second within a traditional mall setting and will take over the space previous occupied by TJ Maxx.

"As we prepare to open our 27th store, we remain committed to bringing stylish yet affordable furniture to the millions of people that come through the mall each year, along with jobs supporting the larger community."

For more than 100 years, The RoomPlace has been serving the Illinois and Indiana communities and highlights furniture, name brand mattresses and financing offers.

The Gurnee store joins others in Aurora, Orland Park, Downers Grove, Bloomingdale, Lombard, Algonquin, Schaumburg, Arlington Heights, Vernon Hills, McHenry and Waukegan.
