Palatine council approves new pizzeria, Indian restaurant
Palatine's restaurant scene continues to expand, with approvals for two new proposals granted Tuesday by the village council.
Eddie Santiago will open J & J Pizza in A vacant space at Plaza La Rosita, on the northwest corner of Dundee and Baldwin roads.
Radhishini Chamakura is behind Indi Fresh, which will fill a vacancy at the Regency Plaza shopping center on the southeast corner of Euclid Avenue and Quentin Road.
Village council members approved special-use permits for both restaurants.
Santiago, who also owns Vini's Pizza on Palatine Road in the village, told the advisory zoning board of appeals at a recent meeting that J & J plans to sell just pizza slices for lunch and dinner, with high school students as the target market.
J & J is touting a "jumbo" slice of pizza and a liter of soda for $5 on a sign in the restaurant's window. J & J intends to have only takeout or delivery.
On Palatine's southwest side, Indi Fresh will join Crunch Fitness, True Value Hardware, Hair Cuttery and other businesses at Regency Plaza. Just like J & J Pizza, Indi Fresh will have only delivery or takeout.
Indi Fresh's proposed menu lists a variety of curries including goat, shrimp, tomato and spinach.
