Ashley Furniture HomeStore opens in Geneva

A second Ashley Furniture HomeStore is open now along the Randall Road corridor.

The store opened its doors at 1777 S. Randall Road in Geneva this month in the former Sports Authority store location. The building, on the east side of Randall, has been vacant since the sports apparel and equipment retailer closed last year.

A grand opening celebration for the Ashley Furniture HomeStore will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2.

The public is invited to the daylong event, which begins with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, according to a news release from the furniture retailer.

The first 100 guests at the grand opening will get $100 gift cards and Bluetooth headsets. The next 100 people will also receive the Bluetooth headsets.

Visitors to the new store also can enter to win over $30,000 in prize giveaways, including a $1,000 dining room, a $1,500 bedroom and a $2,000 living room.

There also will be chances to spin an Ashley prize wheel for items including tumblers, wineglasses, and even entries to get inside of a money machine.

In addition to the chance to win free items, visitors to the new store can also visit with Santa. Face painters, balloons artists and a radio DJ also will be at the event.

If you are hungry, there will be finger foods and desserts for guests to try.

To help give back to the community Ashley is opening in, the new Ashley HomeStore location is partnering with Northern Illinois Food Bank of Geneva to accept donations for its holiday food drive.

This is the second location of an Ashley Furniture HomeStore along the Randall Road corridor.

There already is an Ashley HomeStore along Randall Road in Algonquin at 2451 S. Randall Road.

A local Lou's:

A new Lou Malnati's restaurant is now open along the Randall Road corridor in Carpentersville.

The pizzeria, famous for its Chicago deep-dish pizza, opened last week at 2279 Randall Road. It will sell its pizza through carryout and delivery only. There will be no dine-in options.

There is a similar Lou Malnati's location just to the south along the Randall Road corridor at 903 S. Randall Road in Elgin, as well as one in Geneva at 1048 Commons Drive.

The new 1,770-square-foot store fills a spot left when an Indian grocery store, Aarti Food and Video, closed about eight years ago.
