Route 137 to close in Waukegan beginning Thursday for “Chicago Fire” filming

The Amstutz Expressway (Route 137 between Genesee Street and Greenwood Avenue in Waukegan) will be closed for a week beginning Thursday to accommodate filming of the "Chicago Fire" television show.

According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, the closure will begin, weather permitting, at 5 a.m. Thursday and continue until 1 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13.

A detour will direct drivers to Belvidere Street (Route 120) and Sheridan Road (Route 137). Access to local residences and businesses will be maintained.

Drivers can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to detour signs and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
