Victim in Waukegan shooting identified as Beach Park man

A man who was found shot to death early Monday in a car in Waukegan has been identified.

The Lake County coroner's office on Tuesday said Sergio Berrios, 42, of Beach Park was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police responded about midnight to a shots-fired call outside a home on the 1300 block of Chestnut Street.

Officers located Berrios inside a bullet-riddled vehicle in the driveway. He died from multiple gunshot wounds, authorities said.

A motive for the shooting is unknown, but investigators say they not believe the crime was random.
