Put on your lederhosen for Naper Settlement's Oktoberfest Sept. 30-Oct. 1
Under Naper Settlement's large tent, guests will enjoy German cuisine and Oktoberfest beer varieties, participate in activities, watch a professional pumpkin carver, and listen to a blend of live polka and rock music at the annual Oktoberfest Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.
The Art of Good Eating, Ben's Pretzels, Decadent Flavor, and Belgio's Catering will serve tasty treats and traditional German cuisine, such as potato pancakes, pretzels, brats, and landjager. Schamberger Brothers will provide a variety of local and traditional beer selections, including Hofbräu Oktoberfest, Alter Brewing Festbier, and Schlafly Pumpkin.
Wine offerings will be available from Sable Creek Winery, including Schmitt Sohne Riesling, Sable Creek Sweet Purple Lady, and others.
Festival hours will be 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, and 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at Naper Settlement, 523 S. Webster St. in Naperville.
On both days, you can watch a professional pumpkin carver at work or join in lawn games, like corn hole, giant Connect Four, giant Jenga, lawn pong, and lawn golf.
On Friday, the New Generation Polka Band will perform from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., followed by music from Polkaholics from 8 to 10 p.m.
On Saturday, Ed Wagner's Lustige Blaskapelle will take the stage from 3 to 5 p.m.
Men and women can compete in stein holding competitions from 5 to 5:30 p.m. The prizes will be: first place, four-person Naper Settlement membership (value $145); second place, $50 gift card from Sable Creek Winery; and third place, Oktoberfest Swag Prize package.
It will be followed by music from Freeze Dried from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Wedding Banned will close out the festival from 8 to 10 p.m.
Tickets to the festival are $20 or $15 for youth, ages 4 to 12. Museum members and children under 4 receive complimentary admission.

Free parking is available in the Municipal Parking Garage on the corner of Eagle and Aurora and in the Naper Settlement visitor's lot on Porter Avenue and Webster Street.
All Naperville Heritage Society events take place rain or shine. However, in the case of unsafe weather - lightning, tornado, etc. - Naper Settlement will close the grounds and cancel the event for the safety of its patrons.
