Letter: Matter of financial transparency ignored

Where is the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for last year? While Illinois issued an Interim Financial Report, the report lacks the transparency of an audited Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for fiscal year end 6/30/2021.

What is the administration's excuse for being so delinquent? What are they hiding? Were they waiting until after the primary election to minimize the impact of another fiscal fiasco?

Are they hiding their dependence on federal stimulus money? Why does the media continue to ignore this key financial report when Illinois' financial condition is so unstable? Is the administration trying to hide something from the rating agencies?

Is the auditor general's department not getting the job done in a timely fashion? Are other agencies delinquent, such as IDES (unemployment claims) or Health and Home Services (Medicaid backlog)?

When are these perennial delays in financial reporting going to end? Does accountability exist in Illinois government? What, if anything, can be done to raise the visibility of this financial transparency issue?
