Letter: Hearsay headlines
A friend of mine told me he knows someone who said that he was kidnapped by aliens. This must be true even though there are witnesses who say the person claiming to have been kidnapped was actually bowling with them at the time of his abduction. The Daily Herald should run a front-page banner headline saying "Aliens kidnap citizen."
The Daily Herald banner headline of June 29 rises to the same level of believability. Miss Hutchinson's testimony was hearsay. Her testimony was contradicted by actual witnesses, the Secret Service.
The newspaper should be ashamed of itself and the editor should be reassigned.
