Barrington foundation gives $6,590 grant to Access to Care

Access to Care received a $6,590 grant from the Barrington Area Community Foundation.

This year's new Sustainability Grants were awarded to organizations that, primarily due to COVID, needed assistance to sustain administration of services.

This grant will allow Access to Care to continue prioritizing and providing accessible health care services to communities in need, including those in the Barrington area, who continue to feel the negative impact of COVID.

"We are grateful to the Barrington Area Community Foundation for recognizing the sustainability needs of health care and social service organizations. This grant will help Access to Care connect Barrington area residents, who are uninsured or underinsured, with a local health care provider," said Kathi Franklin, president of Access to Care.

Access to Care was presented with its 2022 Sustainability Grant at the Barrington Area Community Foundation's recognition event in April.

Stephanie Mucha, director of public relations and outreach, accepted the award on behalf of Access to Care.

The Suburban Primary Health Care Council developed the Access to Care program in 1988.

Access to Care is a nonprofit, primary health care program for low-income, uninsured and underinsured residents of suburban Cook County and Northwest Chicago.

Services include physician office visits, laboratory and radiology, prescription drugs and mental health.

Potential members can fill out an online application at www.accesstocare.org to determine eligibility for the program.
