Funeral Mass for Great America's 'Hank' Salemi set for Monday

A funeral Mass will be held Monday for Charles "Hank" Salemi, a Libertyville resident and president of Six Flags Great America in Gurnee.

Salemi, 57, a respected leader in the theme park industry, died unexpectedly Jan. 9. He had been employed by Six Flags for 24 years, including a stint as chief marketing officer for 40 parks worldwide.

He served as park president at Great America, one of the largest in the Six Flags system, beginning in 2006.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; daughter, Claire; mother, Barbara Salemi; sister, Debra Salemi; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church, 121 E. Maple Ave., Libertyville. Masks are mandatory. The service also will be available virtually at www.stjoseph-libertyville.org.

Instead of flowers, donations can be made to Give Kids the World, the Trisomy 18 Foundation, and PADS Lake County.
