South Bend student stable after stabbing at Adams High

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - A South Bend high school student was in stable condition after being stabbed Tuesday morning in a restroom, police said.

The stabbing occurred about 8 a.m., shortly after the school day started at Adams High School, police said.

The student, a minor, told police that five males attacked him.

South Bend Police Chief Scott Ruszkowski said several juveniles were in custody in connection with the incident.

The school was placed on lockdown for about three hours before it was lifted.

Principal James Seitz wrote in a letter to parents the incident 'œappears to be isolated'ť and that no other students were injured.

'œOur thoughts and our hearts go out to the family, as well as all the families that were impacted today by the lockdown,'ť said Todd Cummings, superintendent of the South Bend Community School Corp.
