2 charged with attack on armored car guards in Chicago
CHICAGO (AP) - Two young men were charged Wednesday in a shooting that killed one armored car guard and critically wounded another and a second shooting a short time later that left two suspected accomplices dead, police said.
Antoine Montgomery, 19, and Deandre Jennings, 21, were charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in the armored car shooting Monday, Police Supt. David Brown said. The two also were charged with first-degree murder in the double homicide a short time later of two alleged accomplices in the earlier shooting, Brown said.
Montgomery also is charged with armed robbery and unlawful restraint in the holdup of a cellphone store, police said.
The earlier shooting killed LaShonda Hearts, 47, was struck six times Monday died at a hospital, authorities said. The other guard, a 46-year-old man, was shot twice in his abdomen and taken to a hospital in critical condition, officials said. He is still recovering from his injuries.
The subsequent shooting killed two people, a driver and a passenger, in a car that crashed into several others.
The assailants ended up turning on each other, Brown said.
