To commemorate Veterans Day 2021, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) from the Barrington, IL-based Signal Hill Chapter, NSDAR, looked to their own Patriot Project Chairman, Shenan Constantino, to organize the Chapter's first "National Salute Ceremony."

It took place in Gurnee, IL, during the 11th hour, on the 11th day, of the 11th month - Veterans Day 2021 - and honored the 100th Anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

After posting of the Colors and National Anthem at the American Legion 771 facility in Gurnee, IL, remarks were made by Chairman Constantino, followed by the ringing of a handbell and two minutes of silence. Colors were retired. Chapter members also witnessed the annual Mission BBQ Veterans Day Ceremony in Gurnee.

In recognition of the sacrifices made by active military members, the Signal Hill Chapter also collected donations for Camp Atterbury Campaign located near Edinburgh, IN. This is a military and civilian training post under the auspices of the Indiana National Guard. Donations collected by the Chapter will be delivered in time for Thanksgiving.

The Signal Hill Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) was founded in Barrington, IL in 1972.
