Comcast internet services restored for many after morning outage

Comcast customers throughout the Chicago area are seeing service restored after a morning outage that plagued customers throughout the country.

Comcast eventually released a statement late Tuesday morning blaming the problems on a "network issue."

The company tweeted from its Xfinity Support profile that, "We have addressed the issue and service is now restoring for impacted customers, as we continue to investigate the root cause. We apologize to those who were affected."

The outages appear to have started Monday night on the west coast.

Comcast customers took to Twitter Tuesday morning from all over the country were to report service disruptions, as well as an inability to contact customer service or even access standard outage maps through mobile phone cellular service.

The outage also affected multiple police departments, emergency dispatch centers and school district operations.
