Schaumburg Township GOP collecting household items for Afghan refugees

The Schaumburg Township Republican Organization is partnering with the nonprofit organization Chicagoland World Relief to provide donations of household items to help the estimated 500 Afghan refugee families who will be settling in the Chicago area. These are refugees who helped our country by providing intelligence, interpretation and support to American troops in Afghanistan over the last 20 years, according to STRO officials.

Donations of new household items will be accepted to help establish their residence. A list of items being accepted is available upon request by email at gopstro@gmail.com.

Items can be dropped off at the STRO office, 622 S. Roselle Road in Schaumburg, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Donations can also be brought to the STRO monthly breakfast meeting beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at Chandler's Chophouse, 401 N. Roselle Road in Schaumburg

Gary Rabine, a Republican gubernatorial candidate, will speak and take questions at the meeting. To help defray the cost of the hot breakfast buffet, a $15 contribution from STRO Members and a $20 contribution from nonmembers is requested. For additional information, call (224) 353-6543.
