Boys golf: Libertyville claims first Lake County invite title

The Libertyville boys golf team won the Lake County invite earlier this week at ThunderHawk for the first time ever, coach Sean Matthews noted after an available records check.

Jack Norris (5th, 76), Mack Imm (6th, 76), Aleks Siesers (7th, 77) and Wyatt Sorensen (10th, 78) led the way for the Wildcats, who shot 307.

Grayslake Central update:

Thomas Bolin shot 73 and was 10th individually at the Plainfield North tournament.

Stevenson update:

The Patriots were second at Lake County at ThunderHawk and third at Warren at Bittersweet. Eli Goldes shot 75 at ThunderHawk, while sophomore Abhay Agarwal shot 75 and took seventh at the Hersey invite at Old Orchard.

Wauconda update:

The Bulldogs have competed in two invites and one Northern Lake County match thus far. Coach Tim Bartusch cited improvement in the early going from senior Drew Storz, sophomore Jack Hansen, sophomore Colton McLennan and sophomore Zach Miller.

Lake Zurich update:

Lake Zurich is 2-1 in duals, beating teams with hyphens in them (Zion-Benton and Cary-Grove), as coach Terry Geoghegan pointed out. The Bears won the McHenry invite with a 325. Noah Van Herik won the tournament with a 76. Zach Lawler was medalist with a 37 at Shepard's Creek and a 36 at Foxford Hills.

Lakes update:

Josh Anderson was ninth at Lake County with a 77.

Warren update:

In three invites, Warren has shot 326 and 328 twice (320 is the goal, coach Dave Zaban said). Junior Nick Steinhilber is under 40 thus far.

Mundelein update:

The Mustangs were seventh at The Den in Bloomington and second at the Huntley invite at Pinecrest. Kevin Edquiban tied for seventh at Huntley with an 80, while Matt Kisselburg and Brandon Hinkle each shot 81. Mundelein was sixth at Lake County led by Hinkle's 11th place 79.

Antioch update:

Antioch is 2-0 in NLCC play. A 162 against Grayslake North was the Sequoits' lowest score in three years. Donald Barnett is in the 30s in duals and was fourth at McHenry with a 78.

Grant update:

The Bulldogs went 159 in a win over Lakes at ThunderHawk and 160 in a win over Grayslake Central at Valley Ridge. Cameron Finlayson shot 33 at ThunderHawk, while Zeven Linbo and Kyle Splitt shot 38s at Valley Ridge.
