How local Olympians fared on Sunday in Tokyo

David Kenziera of Mount Prospect missed qualifying for the 400-meter hurdles by 0.31 seconds, finishing in 48.67 in the semifinals. Kenziera ended up in 12th place. Nine runners made the final. The USA will be represented by the 6-foot-3 Rai Benjamin, who resides in Los Angeles, when the race takes place Monday at 10:20 p.m. CDT.

The men's volleyball team - which features Thomas Jaeschke of Wheaton - was eliminated from medal contention after a 25-21, 25-23, 25-23 loss to Argentina. The Americans went 2-3 and ended up in fifth place in their six-country pool.

The women's volleyball team was in action late Sunday night against Italy. Bartlett's Kelsey Robinson and Aurora's Lauren Carlini are on the squad, which went 3-1 in its first four matches.
