Geneva Public Library board seeks candidate to fill vacancy

Geneva Public Library District's board of trustees seeks to fill a vacancy on the board, which occurred when Trustee Zachary Craft resigned June 24.

The appointment will be until the date of the next library election in April 2023. Should the appointee wish to remain on the board beyond that time, they will have to run for election.

Qualifications established by law for library district trustees are:

• Be a registered voter of the Geneva Public Library District;

• Have resided in the district for at least a year;

• Not be delinquent ("in arrears") of paying real estate taxes to the library district or delinquent as to "other indebtedness" to the library district;

• Not have a conviction for "any infamous crime, bribery, perjury, or other felony."

Applications for the vacancy and information packets are available at the library's customer service desk at 227 S. Seventh St.

Applications must be returned to the library by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, to be considered.

The library board will interview applicants at a time to be determined in August.
