Police: 2 dead, 2 injured in wrong-way crash in Chicago

CHICAGO (AP) - Two people died and two others were injured in a crash on a expressway on Chicago's South Side, Illinois State Police announced Sunday.

Police responded to a crash involving a vehicle traveling the wrong way on Interstate 94 around 11 a.m. Saturday.

Authorities said the driver of a gold 2014 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling north in the southbound lanes. The Equinox stuck a 2017 Freightliner tractor-trailer. The impact caused the Equinox to hit a gray 2006 Nissan Sentra.

The woman in the Sentra, identified by the Cook County medical examiner as 66-year-old Teresa Sandoval, was killed. The driver of the Chevrolet was driven by a 53-year-old Naperville man also died. He has not been publicly identified.

Southbound lanes of the expressway, along with several ramps, were closed for nearly eight hours.
