Harris, Curry lead 76ers past Bulls 106-94

CHICAGO (AP) - Tobias Harris scored 21 points, Seth Curry added 20 and the Philadelphia 76ers won their fifth straight game, beating the Chicago Bulls 106-94 on Monday night.

Philadelphia built a big third-quarter lead and then held on, staying ahead of the Brooklyn Nets for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.

'œI wasn't happy,'ť 76ers coach Doc Rivers said. 'œThat's two nights in a row that our bench has come in and kind of given up leads. It's something that we can fix. They just didn't play well.'ť

The 76ers finished with five starters in double figures. Ben Simmons scored 15 points, Danny Green had 14 and a relatively quiet Joel Embiid had 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Coby White scored 23 points for the Bulls, who played without both Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic for the second straight game. Thaddeus Young added 13 points in the team's fourth straight loss and sixth of eight. Chicago remained 12th in the East.

'œI thought our guys kept battling and kept fighting,'ť Bulls coach Billy Donovan said. 'œI think that this is a good character group. I would hope each and every game we try to put our best foot forward and continue to compete and do the best while we're out there.'ť

Philadelphia led by as many as 23 points in the third quarter and by 20 to start the fourth. But Chicago went on a 24-5 run to get within 88-87 midway through the final period.

The 76ers responded with a 12-4 run, highlighted by Harris' floater that made it 100-91 with just over two minutes left. Philadelphia was playing the second of a back-to-back after outlasting San Antonio in overtime a night earlier.

'œIt's always good to get reps,'ť Curry said. 'œYou don't want to have setbacks like you did tonight, but like I said yesterday, it's always good to get reps toward the end of the game.'ť

The Sixers never trailed. Curry opened the scoring with a 20-foot jumper and had 11 points in the first quarter.

76ers: Won their seventh straight over the Bulls. ... Embiid had his second straight double-double and 27th this season.

Bulls: Donovan said LaVine has passed all of the league's health and safety protocols and could be available against Charlotte on Thursday. ... Vucevic (hip) missed his second straight game after an MRI showed no significant damage. Donovan said the team will have a better idea of his return in the next couple days. ... Troy Brown Jr. (sprained ankle) missed his eighth straight game.
