Palatine library will return to prepandemic hours May 1

The Palatine Public Library will expand its hours - going back to its prepandemic schedule - on May 1.

The new hours will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Thursday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and 12 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Visitors are asked to continue to adhere to safety guidelines.

The library has been undergoing a renovation project and preparation for Phase 2 construction begins next week.

Shelving will be moved and the youth and the teen area will be closed for the week. Staff will help place holds on materials from other libraries.

Beginning May 1, a new construction wall will be installed on the first floor and youth and teen collections will be shifted to a temporary location on the first floor. Service desks on both floors will be temporarily relocated.

The renovation will include creation of a new north entrance for easier access from the west and east parking lots.
