Holiday in the Park Lights at Great America returns

The switch for more than 3 million twinkling lights will be flipped Friday, Nov. 27, for Holiday in the Park Lights at Six Flags Great America, Washington Street and Milwaukee Avenue (Route 21) in Gurnee.

Continuous displays designed for social-distanced, open-air viewing are spread throughout the 300-acre property and feature 500,000 more lights than last year.

The show runs from 4 to 9 p.m. weekends and select weekdays through Dec. 30. Reservations are required at sixflags.com/reserve.

Socially distanced entertainment, photo opportunities with costumed characters and special seasonal treats are part of the experience. All guests over age 2 must wear masks.

On Thursday, Dec. 3, a special $20 single-day ticket good any operating day from Dec. 5 to 30 will be available online, with all proceedings going to the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

Also, on any day, visitors can "Round Up at the Register" to the nearest dollar or add a $1, $3, or $5 donation to support Special Olympics of Illinois.

The "Buy One, Give One" winter bear program has returned. For each bear sold, a plush is donated to a local children's organization.

Card and mobile payments will be accepted and visitors can convert cash to a prepaid debit card at kiosks throughout the park.
