No injuries in Itasca-area house fire

No injuries were reported during a house fire Tuesday night near Itasca, according to the Bloomingdale Fire Protection District.

Bloomingdale firefighters responded to a call at 754 S. Rohlwing Road shortly after 7 p.m. The fire, which started in the living room, spread to the kitchen and upper floor of the house before first responders were able to put it out nearly an hour later.

Pet birds were rescued from the home, which was later deemed uninhabitable.

An investigation is ongoing, though fire officials believe the blaze was caused by an electrical malfunction.
