Barrington library closing Monday until further notice

The Barrington Area Library will temporarily close starting Monday until further notice due to the surge in COVID-19 cases in Cook and Lake counties, officials said.

"We care deeply about the health and safety of the communities we serve, especially seniors, people with underlying conditions, and others who are at greater risk. We are also committed to providing the safest possible work environment for library staff," library officials said in a news release.

Library cardholders will continue to have access to parking lot pickup, borrow by mail, and delivery to remote locker locations (if the locations remain open).

Online programs will continue. Cardholders also have 24/7 access to digital collections of e-books, e-audiobooks, e-magazines and newspapers; streaming movies, TV shows and music; and downloadable music.

Students and others with research needs can use the library's online databases and homework help.

People can apply for or renew a library card online. For more information call (847) 382-1300 or visit balibrary.org.
