Bar associations make Cook County judicial recommendations

A number of associations have released recommendations for Cook County judicial candidates running in the Nov. 3 election.

Among them are the Illinois State Bar Association, the state's largest with 28,000 members, and the Chicago Bar Association, the state's second largest with 20,000 members.

For the Illinois Supreme Court First District vacancy, the ISBA and the CBA found P. Scott Neville Jr. highly qualified. For the Illinois Appellate Court First District, the ISBA and CBA found Michael B. Hyman highly qualified and Sharon O. Johnson qualified.

The Alliance of Bar Associations consists of the following: the Arab American Bar Association, the Asian American Bar Association, the Black Women Lawyer's Association, the Chicago Council of Lawyers, the Cook County Bar Association, the Decalogue Society of Lawyers, the Hellenic Bar Association, the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago, the Puerto Rican Bar Association and the Women's Bar Association of Illinois.

Neville Jr., Hyman and Johnson were recommended by 100% of alliance members.

In the 12th subcircuit, which includes parts of Wheeling, Northfield, New Trier, Elk Grove and Maine townships, the state and Chicago bar associations and 100% of alliance members recommended both Patricia M. Fallon and Frank R. DiFranco.

In the 13th subcircuit, which includes parts of Schaumburg, Palatine, Barrington and Hanover townships, all recommended Gary William Seyring. The state and Chicago bar associations and 92% of alliance members groups recommended Susanne M. Groebner.
