ERIC HOLCOMB

Party: Republican

Age: 52

Residence: Indianapolis

Background: bachelor's degree from Hanover College; served six years in the Navy

Career: Various positions with Gov. Mitch Daniels, including deputy chief of staff and 2008 campaign manager, 2003-11; Indiana Republican Party chairman, 2011-13; State chief of staff for U.S. Sen. Dan Coats, 2013-15; appointed lieutenant governor in March 2016 by Gov. Mike Pence; became 2016 Republican nominee for governor after Pence picked as vice presidential candidate; Indiana governor 2017-present

Family: Wife, Janet; no children.

WOODY MYERS

Party: Democratic

Age: 66

Residence: Indianapolis

Background: bachelor's and MBA degrees from Stanford University; medical degree from Harvard University

Career: physician; Indiana state health commissioner, 1985-1990; New York City health commissioner, 1990-91; several corporate executive positions, including at Indianapolis-based insurer Wellpoint Inc., Tennessee-based prison medical care provider Corizon Health and health insurer Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona; lost 2008 Democratic primary for Indianapolis congressional seat.
