Grayslake North honors grads under the lights
Under the lights of the school's stadium, Grayslake North High School honored its 2020 graduates Thursday night. With COVID-19 social distancing and mask safety precautions in place, staff members informed students when it was time to head to the stage.
Students could walk alone or be escorted by up to two parents or guardians.
Graduate Maya Haubrich said she'll miss seeing her teachers, spending a normal summer with her friends and not having a regular graduation ceremony.
“I thought it was very planned out. It was actually very nice. I like the drive-in style, spaced out, walking with my parents," said Maya, who was escorted by her dad and mom, Steve and Michelle Haubrich.
The ceremony was broadcast on FM radio and was streamed live on LCD screens in the parking lot. Video of previously recorded speeches was also released Thursday on the school's YouTube channel and played at the start of the event.
Grayslake Community High School District 127 held Grayslake Central's ceremony Wednesday evening.
