Dombrowski's write-in bid in 28th District falls short
Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 board member Pete Dombrowski has fallen short in his effort to acquire enough write-in votes in the March 17 primary to become a Republican challenger to Democratic state Sen. Laura Murphy of Des Plaines.
According to Cook and DuPage County election results posted this week, the Schaumburg resident received only 346 write-in votes of the 1,000 required to get his name on the Nov. 3 ballot as a Republican for the 28th District seat.
Though Dombrowski said his preference has been to run as an independent, the higher signature requirement than that for established parties will be even harder to meet during the COVID-19 outbreak to get on the general election ballot that way. As such, he's unlikely to run this year.
"It's not my intention to force my social perspective on others," Dombrowski said Wednesday. "I think the role of government needs to be fiscally checked. Thus my independence from parties that have a social agenda."
