Incumbent Davoust secures GOP nod for Kane County Board District 14

Longtime incumbent Mark Davoust defeated challenger Steven Oscarson on Tuesday night in the Republican primary for the Kane County Board District 14 seat, according to preliminary results.

Unofficial tallies with all precincts reporting show 61-year-old Davoust, who has held the position since 2004, securing 786 votes, compared to the 253 ballots cast for Oscarson, a 33-year-old accountant.

Davoust will now face Democrat William Bachman in November.

Tackling the county's budgetary restraints has been a key priority for both candidates, who live in St. Charles. Davoust, a small-business owner, said he also wants to focus on sustainable water supply and maintaining open space.
