Lincolnshire's menu of hotels may soon grow again.

A developer has proposed building a five-story, 112-room Aloft Hotel and a restaurant at 20 Westminster Way. The undeveloped 1.5-acre site is west of the Tri-State Tollway and south of Route 22.

A Homewood Suites by Hilton hotel and the CDW headquarters are nearby, as is a residential neighborhood.

"We see this hotel as a pillar that will represent Lincolnshire's grandeur and will attract visitors to this vibrant community for years to come," developer Marko Jocic said in a letter presented with his plans.

The village board will review the plans during a committee-of-the-whole meeting scheduled to follow the regular board meeting Monday night. The first session is set for 7 p.m. at village hall, 1 Olde Half Day Road.

Jocic proposed building an Aloft Hotel and restaurant on the property in 2015, but the project never progressed, village documents indicate. Since then, the Aloft chain's parent company, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, was purchased by Marriott International.

As part of his most recent proposal, Jocic submitted a 2018 letter of support from Marriott International. Jocic is pursuing a letter reaffirming Marriott's interest in the site, documents indicate.

Village board approval would be needed for various aspects of the plan, including the hotel's proposed height, landscaping concepts and sign sizes, documents indicate.

If the proposal gets a warm reception Monday, it would progress to the village's architectural review board.

Additional board discussions and approval would be required, too.

Six hotels offering 1,100 rooms operate in Lincolnshire: the Homewood Suites by Hilton, Lincolnshire Marriott Resort, Springhill Suites by Marriott, Courtyard by Marriott, Staybridge Suites and Hampton Inn & Suites.

Last summer, a four-story Home2 Suites by Hilton hotel was proposed to be built in town, too. Preliminary work has begun on the site, which is in the Lincolnshire Corporate Center off Milwaukee Avenue.

The many corporate headquarters in Lincolnshire and elsewhere in Lake County make it a draw for hoteliers, Assistant Village Manager Ben Gilbertson has said. The area's restaurants and entertainment venues make the town popular with the hotel industry, too, he said.
