Gurnee library to host information event on marijuana

The Warren-Newport Public Library in Gurnee is hosting a community event for people who have questions about marijuana now that it is legal for adult recreational use.

The event will be an opportunity to ask questions, share concerns and receive support and guidance. It will feature a talk by Kirsten Velasco, the director and assistant secretary of Illinois Women in Cannabis, a group which seeks to maximize the opportunities for women in the cannabis industry. Velasco will explain the history and science of marijuana.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13. The library is located at 224 N. O'Plaine Road in Gurnee.
