On Friday, Dec. 13, Palatine Park District's Allegro Community Chorus will present a concert in two segments. The first half will feature non-holiday pop, gospel, Broadway, and spiritual classics.

After the intermission, the adult community chorus will offer a bright array of carols, spirituals, and popular songs for Christmas.

"Mariah Carey's tune 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' sets the theme for this mixed holiday concert," said Artistic Director Kevin Kelly. "In addition to the 50-voice Allegro Chorus, we will also showcase our smaller ensemble, Allegretto; the men and women of the chorus in their own songs; and several of our singers in solo features."

Allegro Community Chorus was founded in 2003. Kevin Kelly was hired as the artistic director of Allegro in September 2015 with the goal of building the size of the chorus and the quality of its sound.

Kelly says, "Allegro is a warm and enthusiastic bunch who are eager to learn and improve."

The chorus performs two formal concerts at Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center each year and frequently sings for other occasions, including Downtown Palatine Business Association's Holidays on the Town, Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce's Business Expo and Community Showcase, and Palatine Park District's Sounds of Summer Concert Series.

"All We Want for Christmas" will be presnted at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, 150 E. Wood St. in Palatine.
