Palatine farmers market donating produce to St. Joseph Home for the Elderly

Palatine farmers market organizers are participating in a program resulting in weekly donations to St. Joseph Home for the Elderly in the village.

The Sister Cities Association of Palatine, which operates the market, receives produce boxes from three farmers through participation in the Community Supported Agriculture initiative. Market volunteers have been delivering the fruit, vegetables and herbs to St. Joseph's cooks at 1:30 p.m. Saturdays this year.

"We don't know of anyone who can make better use of our vegetables in the most creative and nutritious soups, salads, sauces, desserts - you name it," said Nghi Loi Pappas, past president of Sister Cities and one of the Palatine market managers.
