ArtReach Educational Theatre stages 'Evita!'

ArtReach Educational Theatre, in partnership with Spotlite Theatrix Production Company, is staging "Evita!" Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Lyrics by Tim Rice.

Shows will be performed at The Leela Arts Center, 620 Lee St., in Des Plaines. Performances will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 25; 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 26, and Saturday, July 27; and 3 p.m. Sunday, July 28. Tickets are $16 in advance, $18 at the door.

"Evita" follows the life of Eva Peron, the second wife of Argentine president Juan Peron. The story follows Eva's early life, rise to power, charity work, and eventual death.

The show is directed and choreographed by Jonah Parra and Dan Walsh of Des Plaines, with musical direction by Jessica Harrigan Texidor of Chicago and Beth Kaplan of Wood Dale.

The cast includes Jonah Parra of Des Plaines as Che; Dominique Buonicore of Arlington Heights as Eva; Dan Walsh of Des Plaines as Juan Peron; Kevin Foss of Palatine as Magaldi; Madalyn Griseto of Des Plaines as the Mistress; with featured ensemble members being played by Theresa McAtee of Wheeling; Lisa Birazzi of Palatine; Diana Kuizera of Buffalo Grove; Gianna Berryhill of Poplar Grove; Sophia Berryhill of Poplar Grove; Tanya Durant of Palatine; Lee Kaufmann of Northbrook; and Arturo Castellanos of Chicago.

The mission of ArtReach Educational Theatre is to expose children to all aspects of theater, music and dance. ArtReach Educational Theatre accepts any child age 5 through high school, from beginner to advanced performing levels, with a genuine interest in the arts.

All children are challenged and encouraged. ArtReach Educational Theatre offers private voice lessons, dance and acting classes, advanced musical theater workshops and Summer Arts Camp programs in Palatine.
