Brown County State Park may reopen inn, camping Thursday

NASHVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Southern Indiana's popular Brown County State Park may reopen its overnight facilities Thursday night.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says the Abe Martin Lodge, campgrounds and cabins will reopen then if water production capacity and water sampling continue successfully. It says a determination is expected Thursday morning.

Indiana's largest state park closed June 17 after heavy rainfall caused too much sediment to enter its water source, Ogle Lake, and making its water unsafe for drinking.

The department says day-use facilities and services reopened Monday for sightseeing, picnicking and other activities. No admission is charged. Bottled water is available at the Country Store.
